In this aspect, Nasscom and the Karnataka government are jointly launching a contest, AI for Good Ideathon which might be scaled out to include other state governments, the technology body said. The entire idea for both Nasscom and the center of Excellence is that intelligence ought to be utilized to improve people’s lives.

AI should not simply be used for business, Mohan Krishnan, Manager – Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, at Nasscom, told ET in an interview. The submission of ideas, the last day that will be January 18, will be for 2 classes, solutions which have been implemented by participating companies and implementable ideas. The first class is likely to bring in ideas from startups in the space, although the second category is open to citizens, institutions and academia. The ideas will be evaluated on five parameters, innovation, practicality, feasibility, scalability and potential to have an effect of rdquo, & a Indian challenge, Krishnan said.

All submissions will be evaluated and whittled down to 10 ideas, which can be presented to a jury in February. The awards will be announced in March.
